Urban – Rural Interaction: Knowledge

29 mei Urban – Rural Interaction: Knowledge

Knowledge is Groningen’s foremost export product. Unsurprising, with a university celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. In fact, the EU proclaimed Groningen the second-best innovative capital of Europe 2014. The University, the University Medical Centre Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences are the mainstays of the city. This educational level invites investment and attracts activity. All kinds of spinoffs are thriving in and around the city and new forms of collaboration between the municipality and educational institutions are evolving. The Urban Gro Lab, where government and students jointly reflect on the city of the future, is an excellent example of such cooperation.
